What is a Mental Diet

Week # 7

I’m sure the Journey I’m about to embark on will be one of the most challenging things I have ever done, it’s called “ The Seven Day Mental Diet” It consists not of changing the foods I consume but changing my mental diet, the input of only those things which will benefit my mental state of mind.

“The most important of all factors in my life is the mental diet on which I live. It is the food which I furnish to my mind that determines the whole character of my life. It is the thoughts I allow myself to think, the subjects I allow myself to dwell upon, which make me and my surroundings what they are. As thy days, so shall be thy strength be. Everything in life today – the state of our body, whether healthy or sick, the state of my fortune, whether prosperous or impoverished, the state of my home, whether happy or the reverse, the present condition of every phase of my life in fact – is entirely conditioned by the thoughts and feelings which I have entertained in the past, by the habitual tone of my past thinking.”

“And the condition of my life tomorrow, and the next week, and next year, will be entirely conditioned by the thoughts and feelings which I choose to entertain from now onwards.”

“In other words, I choose my life, that is to say, I choose all the conditions of my life, when I choose the thoughts upon which I allow my mind to dwell. Thought is the real causative force in life, there is no other. I cannot have one kind of mind and another kind of environment. This means that I cannot change my environment while leaving my mind unchanged, nor — and this is the supreme key to life and the reason for this pamphlet – can I change my mind without my environment changing too. “

“This then is the real key to life: If I change my mind my conditions must change too – my body must change, my daily work or other activities must change; my home must change; the color – tone of my whole life must change – for whether I can be habitually happy and cheerful, or low – spirited and fearful , depends entirely on the quality of the mental food upon which I diet myself.”

“Emmet Fox wants me to be very clear about this, If I change my mind my conditions must change too. We are transformed by the renewing of our minds. So now I will see that my mental diet is really the most important thing in my whole life.”

Today I Begin a New Life… Scroll Marked 1

End of Chapter One “The Greatest Salesman in the World”

Today I shed my old skin which hath, to long, suffered the bruises of failure and the wounds of mediocrity.

“Today I am born anew and my birthplace is a vineyard where there is fruit for all”

“Today I will pluck grapes of wisdom from the tallest and fullest vines in the vineyard, for these were planted by the wisest of my profession who have come before me, generation upon generation.”

“Today I savor the taste of grapes from these vines and verily I swallow the seed of success buried in each and new life sprouts from within me.”

The career I have chosen is laden with opportunity yet it is fraught with heartbreak and despair and the bodies of those who have failed.

“Yet I will not fail, as others, for in my hands I now hold the charts which guide me through perilous waters to shores which only yesterday seemed but a dream.”

Nature has already supplied me with knowledge and instinct far greater than any beast in the forest.

Only principles endure and these I now possess, for the laws that lead me to greatness are contained in the words of these scrolls. What they teach me is more to prevent failure than to gain success.

In truth, the only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies in the difference of their habits.

Thus, the first law I obey, which proceedith all others is I form good habits and become their slave.

And how is it I accomplish this difficult feat?

For it is another of nature’s laws that only a habit can subdue another habit.

I must discipline myself with the first of my new habit’s which is as follows: I read each scroll for 30 days in this prescribed manner, before I proceed to the next scroll.

As I repeat the words daily they soon become part of my active mind, but more important they also seep into my other mind, that mysterious source which never sleeps, which creates my dreams , and often makes me act in ways I do not comprehend.

Thus a new good habit is born through repetition
When I preform it often it becomes a habit and I become it’s slave and since it is a good habit this is my will.

Thousands of grapes are pressed to fill one jar with wine, and the grape skin and pulp are tossed to the birds. So it is with these grapes of wisdom from the ages. Much has been filtered and tossed to the wind.
Only the pure truth lies distilled in the words to come. I drink as instructed and spill not a drop and the seed of success I swallow.

Today my old skin has become as dust. I walk tall among men and they know me not, for today I am a new man, with a new life.

A Glimpse

Week 3

The information we are being exposed to is compelling, the question we must ask ourselves is what action will we take after our eyes have caught a glimpse of the possibilities that lie before us. The paragraphs that follow are but a teaser compared to what is actually possible.

Some men seem to attract success, power, wealth, attainment, with very little conscious effort; others conquer with great difficulty; still others fail altogether to reach their ambitions, desires and ideals. Why is this so? Why should some men realize their ambitions easily, others with difficulty, and still others not at all? The cause cannot be physical, else the most perfect men, physically, would be the most successful. The difference, therefore, must be mental – must be in the mind; hence mind must be the creative force, must constitute the sole difference between men. It is mind, therefore, which overcomes environment and every other obstacle in the path of men.

When the creative power of thought is fully understood, its effect will be seen to be marvelous. But such results cannot be secured without proper application, diligence, and concentration. The student will find that the laws governing in the mental and spiritual world are as fixed and infallible as in the material world. To secure the desired results, then, it is necessary to know the law and to comply with it. A proper compliance with the law will be found to produce the desired result with invariable exactitude. The student who learns that power comes from within, that he is weak only because he has depended on help from outside, and who unhesitatingly throws himself on his own thought, instantly rights himself, stands erect, assumes a dominant attitude, and works miracles.
Our mind has the ability to create whatever we ask of it.

Week 1 – Some Things That Spoke To Me

Sharing a few things that caused me to stop and rethink Me, the MKMMA experience is about creating change within ourselves.

Harmony in the world within means the ability to control our thoughts, and determine for ourselves how any experience is to affect us.

Life is an unfoldment, not accretion. What comes to us in the world without is what we already possess in the world within.

Mental efficiency is contingent upon harmony: discord means confusion: therefore, he who would acquire power must be in harmony with natural law.

If we find wisdom in the world within, we shall have the understanding to discern the marvelous possibilities that are latent in this world within, and we shall be given the power to make these possibilities manifest in the world without.

Every thought therefore is a cause and every condition an effect: for this reason it is absolutely essential that you control your thoughts so as to bring forth only desirable conditions.

All growth is from within. This is evident in all nature. Every plant, every animal, every human is a living testimony to this great law, and the error of the ages is in looking for strength or power from without.

The world within is the Universal fountain of supply, and the world without is the outlet to the stream. Our ability to receive depends upon our recognition of this Universal Fountain, this Infinite Energy of which each individual is an outlet, and so is one with every other individual.

It has been helpful for me to write these paragraphs out, they are helping me move gradually toward a new understanding. I hope you are experiencing a similar change.
